Music For All Learn To Play event October 2026 in Droitwich, Worcestershire – free taster lessons for beginners and restarters!

Your chance to have a free taster flute or piano lesson!

What is Music For All‘s Learn To Play Weekend?      
Music For All is the national charity which organises the annual Learn To Play event which gives members of the public the opportunity to enjoy a free taster instrumental music lesson with participating music teachers and music centres in the U.K. I am delighted to be taking part again this year. When are you offering free taster lessons?  
Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October 2026.

I am also extending the offer of free taster lessons to Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th October 2026. 

Who are these taster lessons for? 
Children and adults who are: 
• Total beginners
• Restarters                               

What ages of pupils are the taster lessons for?  
Piano: age 4 to adult
Flute: age 6 to adult
(No upper age limit)              

Where will the taster lessons take place?    
At my home in central Droitwich, Worcestershire (address given on booking). 

On which instruments are you offering lessons? 
Piano and flute. 

How can I get a free taster lesson on a different instrument?
Please go to https://www.musicforall.org.uk/learn-to-play-participants/ where you will find (nearer the time) an interactive map of other participating teachers and venues around the country.

How long will each taster lesson be?
Approximately 15 to 20 minutes.  

Does the taster lesson cost anything?  
No. All taster lessons booked as part of the Learn To Play event are free of charge.

Is there any obligation to book any further lessons?
No.     

Do I need to bring anything with me?  
Beginners – no. 
Restarters – please bring sheet music if there is a piece of music you would like my help with.
Taster flute lessons – if you have your own instrument, please bring it with you.
Glasses if you need them. 

Do I need my own instrument?  
For the taster lesson, no.   
If you want to book any further lessons (charged at my usual rate) you will need your own instrument so that you can practise it between lessons to make progress.

May I sit in on my child’s lesson? 
Yes. Children must have an adult with them for the duration of the taster lesson.

Do you have a clear enhanced DBS check? (Disclosure and Barring Service)
Yes, I do have this and I subscribe to the DBS Update service which means that my DBS check is automatically updated weekly.

Will there be photography / video at the event?
Only if adult pupils or parents of child pupils first sign a written consent form. Choosing not to to agree to photography / video will in no way influence your, or your child’s, lesson.

Can I bring a friend? 
Yes. Please let me know in advance if you’d like a joint taster lesson on the same instrument.

When does booking open?

Belongings: Any belongings, for example instruments, vehicles, personal items,
are brought onto the teacher’s property entirely at visitors’ own risk.
